URGENT: ANR proposes rule allowing ATVs on state land

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources (ANR) is proposing to allow ATV trails to cross state land to "provide the necessary interconnection for a state-wide ATV trail system." Despite the many groups and individuals concerned about the impact of increased motorized recreation on state lands, ANR claims that the Vermont All-Terrain Vehicles Sportsman's Association (VASA), is "the primary interest group interested in this rule", and admits that VASA is the only group with which it has met. If having ATV trails on state land sounds like a bad idea to you, send your comments to Warren Coleman, Agency of Natural Resources, 103 South Main Street, Waterbury, VT 05671 or phone him at (802) 241-3600. There will also be a public hearing on this proposed rule on Monday, June 15, 2009, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., in the auditorium of the Pavilion Office Building, 109 State Street, Montpelier. Please be there to voice your concerns!
